Host a Parenting Party
Parenting Tips & Advice along with Role Playing Exercises in the comfort of your own home/workplace … humour is a must
Who hosts a Parenting Party?
You can either host a Parenting Party yourself for your friends, or ask your employer, children’s school or church to host one for a group of parents.
What is a Parenting Party?
Parenting Parties are new and fast becoming popular. They are a fun and relaxed way of receiving personalized parenting advice along with having your parenting questions answered. A Parenting Party is not unlike other home parties (Tupperware, etc.) whereby you invite your friends over but the difference is that a Parenting Party is information based, not product based. It’s like your own private little parenting information seminar. There will also be role playing exercises which are a lot of fun and a very effective way of learning how to handle challenging parenting situations.
A Parenting Coach (expert on child behaviour and parent-child relationships) will come to your home and provide a casual and interactive 45 minute presentation on parenting. This will be followed by a 30 minute Question & Answer period. The whole idea of the Parenting Party is for you and your friends to be informed, inspired and empowered about parenting in a casual, friendly environment.
What types of Parenting Parties are there to choose from?
There are 3 standard Parenting Parties:
1. “I’m the Boss … why don’t YOU seem to know it?!” … for Parents of Toddlers (0-4 years).
These are the formative years so it’s your best opportunity to establish yourself as a calm, confident, reliable leader. The problem is that you know this, but your toddler doesn’t. It can be a battle for control so we will discuss the following:
- bedtime battles
- potty training
- tantrums
- discipline techniques (what works and what doesn’t)
2. “I promise not to smother you … really” … for Parents of Children (5 to 10 years).
It’s difficult for you to start letting go and allowing your child to start solving problems on their own. Prepare them for the following:
- responsibilities
- bullying
- social skills
- anxiety/stress
- sex education
3. “Yikes … what’s happening?!” … for Parents of Teenagers (11 to 18 years).
The teen years are notoriously the most difficult. Your child may have been a handful when little but the price they paid for rebellion was pretty small compared to what teenagers can get up to. The more you understand your teenager, the better. We will cover the following:
- how to get their respect
- cyber-bullying
- hormones/sex
- moodiness
- partying, etc.
Note: You can customize your own party around a specific topic or topics. For example, you may have a real bullying problem in your child’s school and decide to invite some of the other school parents along for a Parenting Party all centred about how to teach your children how to handle bullying.
What does the Parenting Expert Supply?
- Party Outline Sheet for guests
- Presentation (45 minutes)
- Q&A Period (30 minutes)
- Host Gift (30 minute private coaching session)
What do you, the Host, provide?
You pay for the Parenting Expert’s attendance then divide that expense up amongst you and your friends. The more friends you invite, the less each person pays. Most Parties consist of 12-20 guests, but some have as few as 3 to keep it very personal whereas others have had crowds of 70+ guests.
You provide the venue which can be your home, apartment social room, church hall, workplace, etc.
Some hosts are worried about having to get up and speak at the event but it’s not necessary as the Parenting Expert will be there right from the beginning and will handle all the details. You just sit back and relax and enjoy yourself along with your guests.
Coffee & goodies are optional, usually depends on the venue and number attending.
This is just for parents as children can be distracting.
What do guests provide?
- Payment to you, the host (this is dependent upon how many are attending)
- Questions for Parenting Expert
